God's Faithfulness - Hope in Him

It seems that I rarely get to post much anymore on my blog.  I want to desperately but find that time slips away from me.   We're off and running with school.  The kids are doing great and we are making some great strides with AJ.  I have a post coming about life with AJ as soon as I get more of my thoughts together... but on to today!

I just wanted to take the time to document God's faithfulness.  We stepped out in this adoption journey with very little. God stretched us financially by moving us to bring home two children rather than one and honestly we have had to keep a tight rope on our finances since coming home with AJ and Selam.  We've been extremely limited just to pay the monthly payments that we took on to cover plane tickets, etc.  But today I can say that God is faithful to finish the financial part of the journey.  Tonight as I paid our bills I felt so relieved b/c all that extra that we took on has been paid in full!  He was even faithful enough to restore our savings back to the place it was prior to us starting this journey!!

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.  1 Thes 5:24

Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.  Psalm 36:5

My faith tells me that not only will he be faithful about our finances but he will also be faithful about our growing bonds with our children, healing their hurts and bringing our family to the exact place he wants us to be.  I can HOPE in him that our love for each other will continue to grow and our relationships strengthen b/c I have seen him be faithful in our finances.

For those of you who are coming behind us and maybe are struggling to hold it all together financially, wishing for feelings to appear for your newly adopted children, or feel like you can't get life back under control to some extent just know you can HOPE in the Lord that he will be faithful to you.  He will bring you back to a place of being filled b/c you have been willing to step out and sacrifice for him.

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our HOPE in you.  Psalm 33:22

I love studying the bible by learning the Greek or Hebrew meanings of words.  I find that often my worldly or American view of words really mean something totally different than what the bible is saying.  Hope is one of those words!  When we say hope in American culture we have a mindset of maybe.  I hope it will rain today... but it might not.  I hope I get to leave work early... but I might not.  Our American hope, our worldly hope is really uncertain.  It may or may not come to be.  But that is not the HOPE of the the Lord.  The HOPE in Psalm 33:22 is a HOPE of absolute certainty, favorable and confident expectation, the happy anticipation of good!  There is no maybe in those words!!

God is faithful and we can be confident in our HOPE.  We can expect him to bring about good in our lives, to have favor with him when we step out into the deep end of the pool for him.  So if you are on this adoption journey or any other journey and wondering like we were a year ago if we would ever come out of the hole know you can HOPE with certainty that you will b/c he is faithful to complete the work.
