A few weeks ago we were out having a little fun at the landing in Branson when J said she wanted to get her ears pierced. We've never really even brought it up to her before but at other times she has mentioned it briefly and we told her that if she ever wanted to we could talk about it. We ventured into Claire's and tried so hard to work up the nerve b/c she really wanted to do it but we ended up leaving b/c J couldn't bring herself to sit in the chair. We left with tears and her repeating, "I want to so bad but I'm really scared." We talked about how you have to do things afraid sometimes and what a blessing it is when you finally do. Bryan and I had told her several things we had done afraid and what great things came out of it, but we never pushed.
Over labor day weekend J said again that she wanted to get her ears pierced and that she was scared but excited and she knew she could do it. So without hesitation we all jumped in the car and headed to the mall. We did okay right until they brought out those little guns and she said I'm scared with no I'm excited attached to it. So just like my mother would have done to me, I said, "you're gonna do it! you can do it! and then nodded to the girls to just do it :) With a quick snap it was done and not even a tear.
